An
aphrodisiac
is any food, drink that increases or enhances a person's sexual drive.
Some of natures flavors, liquorices and gingers have been known world wide
for having aphrodisiac qualities, as well as hot and spice foods. There are
some fruits and vegetables, chocolates, and even scents (like perfume) that
are known to have certain properties to increase sexual drive. Though there
is no physical evidence that aphrodisiac actually work, but most seem to
think they actually do something. If you are looking to certain foods
to help increase sexual drive and desires is typically harmless, unless you
are allergic to the food. It is said that the shape and texture of the
food sends erotic signals to the brain and the brain cause the body to
become aroused, though absurd, many think this is more relevant than the
actually food causing any sexual desire.
There are many substance's that are used
as aphrodisiac to enhance sexual drive both legal
and illegal, of course most of these drugs actually decrease drive and
furthermore, can cause serious damage to the body. Using illegal drugs
such as LSD, amphetamines, heroin, and marijuana to increase sex drive is not
recommended and if used can cause serious problems, even death.
Yohimbine, derived from the bark of the African Yohimbe Tree,
the aphrodisiac has been said
to enhance sexual desire in men. Though it is mainly used for erectile
dysfunction, and has a lot of the properties that are found in placebo, there
are no reports that consistently say it enhances sex drive. Plus if you
are looking for sex drive, new studies have found that testosterone affects sex
drive, and using it especially when testosterone levels are low can aid men in
getting their sexual drive back by taking testosterone supplements.
It is reasonable to say that certain chemicals, foods, and scents trigger
responses in the brain the control sexual desire. Most drugs decrease sex drive
and while must foods thought to increase sexual desire do nothing at all.
It is at most, a myth that aphrodisiac actually work, and to claim that there
is actually any characteristic's to attribute them with the ability to enhance
sexual drive, would be just that, mythical.
